Embrace Diversity and Disruption: Kulur Group's Journey to Innovation and Inclusivity

In 2019, a groundbreaking agency was born in the business landscape: Kulur Group. This remote-based agency, stretching its influence from Texas to Connecticut, has redefined the traditional business model, championing a new ethos deeply ingrained in diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging. This blog explores the core of Kulur Group's innovative approach, spotlighting the dynamic leadership of Nicholas Love and the role of Prosal in supporting their vision of diverse business practices.

The Genesis of Kulur Group & DOPE Framework

Kulur Group's inception wasn't just the launch of a new business but a movement's birth. The name 'Kulur,' resonating with the word 'color,' symbolizes a spectrum of thoughts, ideas, and perspectives. This philosophy of embracing diversity is the foundation upon which Kulur was built, setting it apart from conventional agencies.

At the heart of Kulur Group is its unique DOPE framework, an innovative strategy and core company value needed to succeed in a competitive business world. At Kulur Group, DOPE means:

  • D: Brands that Dare to Disrupt
  • O: Brands Opportunistic with Intent
  • P: Brands that Explore Possibilities through Partnership
  • E: Brands Executing Change

This framework guides Kulur's partnerships, aligning with clients who share their vision of challenging the status quo and driving impactful change in various industries. Today, Kulur’s team of 15 leverages this framework across the U.S., from Texas to North Carolina and Connecticut.

Kulur Group's culture is a rich tapestry woven with curiosity, creativity, compassion, inclusivity, and confidence. Recognizing the significant impact of one's work environment on mental well-being, they are committed to fostering a workspace that encourages positive cognitive and creative processes.

“We seek clients that recognize that ideas are better when they compete and understand the value of diversity as a competitive business advantage. We certainly can operate and thrive in ambiguous scenarios, but we are not interested in serving as a production shop,” says Nicholas Love, Agency Principal at Kulur Group.

Nicholas Love and His Impact Beyond Business

Nicholas Love's journey to becoming the Agency Principal at Kulur Group is a story of resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning. Originally from Michigan, he grew up dreaming of becoming on-air talent with ESPN. After graduating from Grambling State University, Nicholas joined ESPN's digital media department to focus on content creation at the birth of the movement. When he began sharing social media posts so his family could follow his work, he didn’t realize how far ahead he already was in terms of content serialization, platform segmentation, and meeting readers in their preferred engagement formats.

Nicholas turned that experience into roles across higher education institutions like the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, The Ohio State University, and North Carolina State University. However, the experience led to a confounding dilemma: when he wanted to transition to agency work, hiring managers doubted his ability to deliver. However, G&S Business Communications took a chance on Nicholas, and he joined as their Director of Social Media, where he advanced in the company and eventually was named VP of Digital Marketing and built a Digital Center of Excellence.

“I've been doubted throughout my life and career, so I've naturally aligned with a challenger framework. Whether it was attending a four-year college or my ability to thrive in the agency vertical, I've taken pride in rising to the challenge.”

Doubt is something that Nicholas thrives on, and such personal experiences deeply influence his leadership style. As the father of two children on the Autism spectrum, he remains no stranger to doubt. He goes beyond whenever asked to ensure that the people around him, from coworkers to clients and family, have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential and show what they are capable of.

Nicholas Love's influence extends beyond his role at Kulur Group. His involvement as an Adjunct Professor at Grambling State University and as a mentor exemplifies his dedication to nurturing the next generation of marketing leaders and contributing to the broader community. This role is a testament to his passion for education and mentorship, aligning seamlessly with his professional ethos.

“I’ve long felt it was my purpose to be a leader, and since emerging as a partner with the Kulur Group, I haven’t smiled this much about professional activity in a long time.”

Mirroring Core Values and Strategic Vision

Kulur Group's 'Are You DOPE?' project is a prime example of their commitment to meaningful and purpose-driven work. This initiative, focusing on minority-owned or women-led tech companies, reflects their ethos and strategic vision, embodying their commitment to diversity and innovation in the tech industry.

Operating in a competitive agency space, Kulur Group acknowledges the importance of defining transparent processes and maintaining stability amidst growth. These challenges are approached with a commitment to impact and innovation, signifying a growth mindset that values the quality and impact of their work over mere numerical growth.

With Prosal, Nicholas and Kulur Group are discovering incredible efficiencies in how they approach business development and client acquisition. In doing so, they will likely find firmer footing as they continue to scale.

Shaping the Future of Business

Kulur Group stands as a beacon for a business model that thrives on diversity, innovation, and strategic disruption, and its leadership as humans can think of delivering meaningful results that impact the whole person. They represent an agency and a vision for a future where businesses are defined by their inclusivity, creativity, and impact. Kulur Group is not merely redefining business development but crafting a new paradigm for inclusive and impactful business practices.
